01 / Workflow

From nested data
to formatted output.

  1. QuickBooks report
Retrieve report data through the QuickBooks module in Integromat / Make.
  2. Unpack nested rows
Separate account headers, detail rows and section summaries.
  3. Restore report order
Aggregate headers, detail and summary rows into an ordered HTML table.
  4. Google Sheets staging
Create a spreadsheet from the transformed report.
  5. Formatted Excel output
Write values into existing rows so the template formatting remains in place.
  6. Header checks & recovery
Check for missing headers and re-add them in the later recorded version.

02 / Data structure

Keep the accounting
hierarchy readable.

The QuickBooks response contains differently nested headers, detail rows and summaries. The workflow separates those types, then aggregates them in report order: heading, associated values, detail and summary. An HTML table provides a bridge into Google Sheets.

Preserving structure matters because a flat list of amounts loses the relationship between an account group, its component rows and its subtotal. The walkthrough demonstrates transformation logic; it does not independently validate the financial totals.

03 / Spreadsheet delivery

Change the values.
Keep the template.

Google Sheets provides an intermediate representation. Values are then written into existing Excel rows, allowing the client’s template to retain its styles and number formatting. The demonstration shows formatting retained while values update.

The recorded method depends on row order. Rearranging a destination template does not automatically remap source rows, and the walkthrough identifies inconsistent or abbreviated headers as further work.

04 / Reliability

Check what arrived.
Investigate what differs.

A later walkthrough describes checking whether headers actually appeared and adding missing ones again. Noah also requests access to the live client file to investigate behavior that differed from his own account.

A separate recording explains configuring client-specific connections so operators can select the relevant account rather than repeatedly supply its identifying header. The recording is connection guidance, not proof that every client account was configured.

05 / Project scope

Implementation
and project scope.

The work covered report transformation, testing and connection setup. Client Drive permissions, differences between test and client accounts, and inconsistent source headers required further work before a full rollout.

Five source walkthroughs span April–May 2021 and March 2022. They include implementation explanation, testing, troubleshooting, connection guidance and teammate delegation. The dates describe the recordings rather than a confirmed continuous engagement.
